a glimpse of spring......then cold again

It's been a great week of warm sunshine and melting snow, we've done lots of walking to school and wandering around the back yard. We still have a good foot or two of snow, but it's covered in a hard shell of ice. The kids were loving the little break from winter and E kept asking if it was almost summer!
Our poor snowman didn't fare too well though. Some of you may remember him in his glory days, but alas, no more. I think he shrunk about two feet in height. Poor Snowy.
And if you come to our house and have to walk from the front to the back, watch out! Icey icey icey!

Now that it's frigid cold again, we're doing more of this kind of thing.......Fun!

The Great Bag Swap....2008!

Now that Jes has posted on her blog some of the bags from our family swap, I'll share mine here. First of all, I just have to say that my family is awesome! We're exchanging bags from Alaska to Arizona to Utah to Indiana to Alberta to Wisconsin.......and there's some serious talent in these crafty women I'm related to! (I'm not necessarily talking about myself, but you can think what you want!) :)

My bag is from my beloved Aunt Teresa who owns this amazing little shop in Wisconsin, check out her site. She's one of the most creative and artistic people I know, and I LOVE my bag. It's huge, it's beautiful, and she has such an eye for every little detail. I love it Tee! Thanks! And I won't post the bag I made for my Aunt Peggie because Jes doesn't have it up yet, don't want to spoil the surprise. But I love it as well and I think I'm going to make myself a matching one! :)

Thanks family, for the fun swap....I can't wait for the next one!

checking in.....

Here we are in the new year, lots of playing with new toys and getting back into daily routines. This marbleworks has been one of the favorites, we build a new design almost every day, very fun! I've been off the computer for awhile doing a bit of a media detox, and wow, I got lots done! Lots of reading, lots of cooking, and lots of playing. But I missed a few things on here, so I'll be back a bit more.
Here's Ember's last minute Christmas nightgown I made. I decided the Thursday before that I should make it, and I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I used a vintage child's dress pattern from mom's old pattern stash, and white flannel. And to add a bit of interest, there's red scalloped satin stitch around the neck, sleeves, and hem. Her new waldorf doll has a matching one (that I decided to make the Monday before!). And she's holding one of her new treasured fairies, they've been well loved and played with so far!

I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve! We rang in the New Year in style at 8:30pm with some bubbly apple juice and party hats! Then sent the kids off to bed and watched a movie with goat cheese, olives, and sparkling grape! Yum!
