more Grandparents......

I'm looking through these old photos for another to fill my little black frame, and I just had to share! Since we're talking about how my grandparents look like famous movie stars.....check out Grandpa Gordon! Isn't he handsome? They were true adventurers, they moved to Alaska in the fifties, when hardly anyone lived there. And they started up a successful business, and they bought a cabin in the woods and travelled all around. And now, approaching their 80's, they're spending the entire summer, 4 months, at the cabin in the woods! No running water! See.....they're true Alaskan adventurers, and I want to be just like them! (And yes, they're still just as good looking at 80!) Love you guys!

First of all.....who here thinks my Grandma Vi looks like a movie star? Isn't she gorgeous? In about 75% of her photos from the 50's, she's wearing red shoes and red lipstick! I want to be her! (But I need more red shoes!)

Last week I found a little black and white photo of my grandparents on their wedding day, tucked away in a Guy Buffet book from their art gallery. I love it! Last night I realized that it fit perfectly in a little black frame that I've had on my mantle for awhile, without any photos in it, because I'm indecisive like that! Anyways, I have about a million memories that include my Grandma, and I love her so much! But I'll always remember her looking so well put together, even when she's camping in the woods! ( shoes!)

My Sister-in-law Crystal posted this on her blog, and I thought it would be fun. Let's share some memories!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew/know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Future Paleontologist.....

Ever since our trip to the dinosaur museum, E's been begging to have a real dinosaur dig in our yard, so this week we finally rounded up some "bones" and hid them in the dirt. Using our "tools" (sticks), we proceeded to dig until they were all found, although who knows how long we'll be finding noodles in our yard! Actually, probably not too long because then we had a bunch of rain.....I'm sure the ants are enjoying their little noodle-fest!

I've been sewing!

It's been ages since I've done much sewing, especially clothes. A couple of weeks ago I claimed an empty corner of our storage room as my own and I set up shop! I love it! It's so great to be able to leave projects all over the place and close the door so no little hands can get into it. And my new Viking is a dream to work with, she knows all kinds of tricks, even the dreaded buttonholes were a pleasure! The top picture is a reconstructed t-shirt, from a gigantic thrifted tee, I love it! (And I love my walking-foot!)

This next pic is from the SewU book, and it was really fun! Lots of firsts for me, I've nver done a collared shirt before, but it went together great! Now I have all kinds of projects floating around in my head, I've found my sewing mojo again!

Well, we've officially attended The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth! (Or so they call it, actually, I think they're referring to the rodeo, which we didn't see.) Anyways, this was our fun-filled day at the Stampede last week, the kids loved it! There was so much to see and do! We rode the train to avoid the crazy parking downtown, and we went early in the morning on Kids Day to get in free. By 2 o'clock the kids were worn out so we packed ourselves back into the standing-room-only train car and headed home. It's so fun to be out and exploring this neverending city!

Holiday Week.....

Here's our busy week in review, sorry to those of you whose emails I've missed, we've been off havin' a good time! First....Canada Day at the farm, and Grandma's big birthday bash! Lots of good food and fun and cousins!
This was my view for awhile, atop Ernie the horse.
Then we were off to the Royal Tyrell Museum of Dinosaurs! The largest in the world!

Hope you've all had a great week as well, Happy Fourth of July!
