Just popping in here from the Land of the Midnight Sun! This is us, enjoying the beach at my favorite place in the world. I could hardly get Gavin away from the water. The kids gathered, collected, and pocketed rocks to their hearts' content. The trip has been wonderful so far, and I'm sure there's much more fun to come. I've taken loads of pictures so I'll have more to share. This place is just so beautiful and picturesque, I can't help taking pictures of everything!

We'll see you all soon! Wish me luck on an airplane for 8 hours with two kids! (I have a super surprise treat bag packed for the plane, should be fun!)

Planting time.......

I caught a little bit of garden fever this spring and was determined to grow something. So I whipped this tiny little box out of scraps we had in the garage, and filled it with compost, dirt, and peat moss, and planted a few things. In the little squares we have, in order, spinach, carrots, lettuce, spinach, carrots, lettuce. I decided to double up in case nothing actually grows! I'm new at this!

In this shot, Ember's watering with our watering bucket, we still don't have a hose or a real watering can so we poked holes in the bottom of this bucket so she could sprinkle. Stay tuned for harvest time, hopefully something grows! (Gavin saw a plane fly over as I took the picture!)

Happy Mother's Day!

We're off for the weekend to visit a special mother and grandmother, but Happy Mother's Day out there to my special mother and grandmother, and of course all you other mothers and mothers-to-be! A few of my favorite paintings to share with you. The top I'm not sure who it's by, anyone have an idea? Then Mary Cassatt and of course, Picasso. Don't you love how in the Cassatt she's holding her little one's foot and he's patting her face! Love it!

There's something about baking that really makes you feel at home in a new kitchen, so I've done a bit this week. This is yuuuuuuummmmmmy cinnamon swirl cake, delish! (It was supposed to be cinnamon rolls, but gluten free dough falls apart sometimes!) Seriously though, it was awesome, and as you can see, my little guy enjoyed it as well!

I also want to add, I know my new banner looks kind of wintery, but that's as good as it gets here! It's snowing outside as I type! As soon as our yard turns green and the sky blue, you'll see a little more colour here. For now, you get blah!

Well, we've finally arrived! Isn't it crazy that pretty much everything we own was in that truck? We packed up Monday and Tuesday, then travelled all afternoon and unloaded Tuesday evening. Wow, what a lot of work! But we're getting settled in our new home, box by box. Poor Emberly's been sick all week, and now Gavin's getting his share of it, so she has spent most of the packing and unpacking laying on the couch. Or in the case of the pictures below, just sprawled out on the floor! Both kids amazingly fell asleep Tuesday afternoon at the same time, and in all honesty, that's what Derick and I wished we could do. Moving is hard work!
