Corners of my home.......

I've seen a lot of great corners out there in blogland, so I thought I'd share one of my favorites. This is my little sewing corner that has been very neglected as of late. The old Pfaff was my Grandmother's and I adore it! The table was my sister-in-law's grandmother's, and it's such a perfect fit for my little corner. Today I decided to tackle a pile of UFO's and mending that was smothering my poor sewing corner and hopefully I'll be able to get my creative juices flowing again and sew sew sew!

Before and After.......

A new summer do! It was just getting soooooo long, and most often it was just in a twisty up bun, that I decided I needed a fresh look. My last haircut was the day before Gavin was born, June 9, 2006, so I think it was about time! Now it feels much better!

My Favorite Place......

Well, I wanted something to blog about, and since I've lost my camera for the moment, I was searching through old pictures on my hard drive and came across this, my favorite place! This is my family's cabin in Alaska on Kenai Lake and it's a place filled with thousands of Green family memories. My dad's parents bought it when he was a boy, I believe it was 1958 or 59. Back then it was just the smaller cabin you see in the foreground, and it was barn red with a green roof. That's how I remember it when I was a kid, and of course it was wonderful! When I was about 8 or 9, my Dad designed the larger cabin and built a deck to connect the two cabins. Now there's room for everyone! My grandparents, being the Alaskan pioneers that they are, are living there for the summer. There's not even running water! I think that's pretty impressive for a couple who is a bit into their golden years!

Unfortunately I'm about 2000 miles away from my favorite place at the moment, but it's never too far from my thoughts! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa, for having the vision to create what would become such a wonderful family retreat!

Farm Girl

Here's my little "farm girl" who wants a pig and a reindeer to put in our backyard! Luckily for us we can pretend we're real farm girls when we visit Grandma and Grandpa on the farm, but as I sit here knitting a cotton dishcloth this evening, I realize I'm definitely a farm girl at heart! What is it that makes some of us long for our farm roots. I wasn't raised on a farm, but my Grandmother was.......could it still be in my blood? Well if it is, I think my daughter's got it double, since it comes from both sides! She tells me she wants to be a princess farmer, now what girl wouldn't want that!
